For years, I’ve been chanting the Gayatri Mantra while washing my hands.
During this time of heightened awareness around hand-washing,
I highly recommend the practice.
OM
Bhur Bhuvah Svah
Tat Savitur Varenyam
Bhargo Devasya Dhimahi
Dhiyo Yo Nah Prachodayat
OM
We meditate on the self-effulgent light of the Source.
May our hearts and minds be illuminated.
From Travels Through Sacred India by Roger Housden:
THE GAYATRI MANTRA
The Mother of Mantras, The Great Mantra of Purification, Homage to the
Great Sun which lights the world and the depths of the human heart: this,
the Gayatri Mantra, is recited daily at sunrise by more people than any
other prayer on earth.
The Sanskrit was added to the hand washing protocol images by, I believe, Sarai McCulley Neuman.
